MASSAGE THERAPY

WHAT IS SPORTS & REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY?

Sports & remedial massage is a combination of consultation, massage treatment and home care advice in the form of stretches and exercises. Therapists have a good understanding of anatomy and physiology, which means they can pinpoint the source of your pain and then treat it.

Musculoskeletal tension might be the cause of poor posture. It can also be work related or simply caused by stress from our modern everyday hectic lifestyles. By combining general holistic massage techniques with deep tissue manipulation and different gentle stretching techniques to release stiffness and tension, massage therapy can improve joint range of motion and muscle flexibility.

Sportspeople use massage to prevent injury, but it is extremely beneficial for everyone, regardless of age or whether you are involved in sporting activity or not. It can help speed up recovery from an injury and keep your musculoskeletal system in balance to maintain your physical health. It can help with general tension and stiffness in your neck, shoulder, back, knees and legs, and can successfully treat a broad range of conditions.

By combining holistic massage techniques with deep tissue massage techniques, soft tissue manipulation and gentle stretching techniques as well as myofascial dry cupping  we can release stiffness and tension and improve joint range of motion and muscle flexibility.

You will also get individual, tailor made advice on muscle strengthening exercises and stretching exercises to work on at home between sessions to help release tension and/or to speed up the recovery from an injury and to prevent it from reoccurring in the future.

If you are seeing a physiotherapist, chiropractor or osteopath or any other health professional, I am happy to consult with them in order to put together the most optimal massage treatment plan for your needs.

WHAT IS SPORTS & REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY?

Usually you do not notice muscle damage until it begins to cause you problems such as pain and discomfort. As your body tries to stay in balance it will compensate for the pain by altering your posture. This overcompensation can lead to even more problems in other muscles. Regular massage can help keep your musculoskeletal system in balance.

So make sure you prevent pain with regular massage. Contact me for full details and prices.
